End of You band history

Our Story

The journey since 2003

A Northern Chronicle (2003 – Today)

“We write the soundtrack for long winters and longer shadows.”Jami Pietilä

The Founding Fires (2003 – 2004)

Helsinki, early 2003. Singer-guitarist Jami Pietilä sketched dark riffs in a basement rehearsal room, but the vision needed allies. First to answer was bassist Timo “Lede” Lehtinen, a long-time friend whose low-end thunder would anchor the band’s earliest shows. Keyboard prodigy Joni Borodavkin arrived next, drenching every melody in icy synths. Drummer Rami Kokko (soon succeeded by Mika Keijonen) locked in the heartbeat, and guitarist Jani Karppanen completed the twin-guitar wall. By late-summer 2003, End of You stood as a fully-armed quintet ready to paint Finland’s longest nights with cinematic gloom.

Rise of the Unreal (2005 – 2006)

  • Nov 2005 – Debut single “Walking with No One” hits #17 on the Finnish charts, powered by the original five-man line-up.
  • 29 Mar 2006 – Album Unreal (producer Hiili Hiilesmaa) drops; press hails its “Blade-Runner-meets-goth-rock” atmosphere.
  • End of You was nominated for "Metal Newcomer of the Year".
  • Heavy rotation on Finnish radio and TV appearances on major music shows.

Shaping the Mimesis (2007 – 2008)

  • Second album Mimesis deepens the synth-driven soundscape.
  • Hit single “You Deserve More” dominates Finnish rock radio.

Evolution & Remains (2009 – 2011)

  • Friendly split from Spinefarm; pact with Playground Music.
  • Remains of the Day (2010) yields crowd-chant anthem “Star Parade.”
  • March 2011 – Headline show at Tavastia, Helsinki; band enters a self-imposed hiatus after eight intense years.

Into the Void (2011-2017)

  •  The lights went dark. The instruments fell silent.
  • Jami Pietilä disappeared on a year-long world journey, searching for something lost.
  • The others pursued their own shadows, waiting for the call to return.

Resurrection & Reinvention (2017 – 2020)

  • Comeback single “Stay” (2017) signals heavier, widescreen production from Joni Borodavkin’s Hellhole Studios.
  • Tuomo Siponen (guitar, backing vocals) and Timo Huuskonen (drums) join in 2018, debuting at John Smith Festival.
  • First Finnish-language singles — “Tyhjä maa,” “Ikuisessa meressä,” “Aika” — land on Spotify’s Metallia Suomesta editorial list.
